One of the cornerstones of my blog is the 5 Questions series, where I essentially ask mommy entrepreneurs the same 5 questions about what it’s like to be a mother and an online business person.
I’ve been thriled with how it’s going. I’ve had terrific response to the series and have had a wonderful mix of moms who want to participate, including bloggers, motivational coaches, baby product inventors, and mommy directories.
Here’s why I like my 5 Questions series:
1. It’s helping me with my posting schedule.
I have scheduled posting until the end of July and am going to be using my virtual assistant in India to help me schedule more. I’m pretty committed to having a post up every single workday (I’ve missed on day since the blog started) I’m finding that the 5 Questions are helping to alleviate some of the pressure to blog five days a week.
2. I get to connect with other moms across the continent.
I’ve met moms from all over the continent. As I mentioned above, I’ve connected with moms who are launching all sorts of business and who are in several different stages in their life. I love reading their answers (I hope you do too!) and absorbing a few quick insights. I especially like knowing what drives these highly creative mothers to shun the corporate world and start their own business.
3. I enjoy promoting mompreneurs on my blog and in Twitter.
I go to great lengths to promote the 5 Questions series. In addition to a Twitter shout out on the day of the posting, I promote the series by posting in forums inviting people to participate in the program. I was very deliberate in adding plug-ins to this blog like related links so that my readers could easily access other posts in the 5 Questions series.
4. It helps provide some exposure to my own blog.
It would be great to get a linkback from the subject’s Press page, like Amy Bellgardt did, but I don’t ask for it since my main motive is to promote the businesses of mommy entrepreneurs. However, I do suppose it gives me a good reason to promote my own site on mommy forums, etc.
