9 Ways People Respond to Your Content Online
So far, this is the best distillation of the content conversion process and with it, I had a bit of an Ah Ha moment: Of course the ultimate goal of any visit is to convert a visitor to an RSS subscriber. As a fledgling blogger, the concept hadn’t really occurred to me, but of course it makes sense. The ultimate goal of an e-commerce site is to capture a sale. Similarly, the ultimate goal should be to get people captivated enough to want to come back more. And the ultimate sign of that is the subscription – either via RSS or email. That is the funnel. For those of you unfamiliar with a funnel, a funnel represents the path that you would like visitors to take on their way to converting to the goal (in this case, subscribing). I need to update my Google Analytics tool to ensure that it’s monitoring this funnel.
This post really has inspired me to come up with more creative and compelling content. It means that I should be developing posts that are highly targeted to my niche audience: moms who are in the process of starting and developing an online business. Part of me is still questioning that direction since it does alienate a large part of the planet. However, it is true that every good business venture needs a high developed idea of who its target market and audience is.
