I’ve been living in Vancouver for a month now. Things are starting to settle down but also stir up too. Now that I’m not distracted by boxes and boxes of packed stuff (stuff, by the way, that I later wondered why I packed), I’m now staring at the daunting task of launching two businesses, drumming up clients and traffic, coming up with a marketing plan, and maintaining two web sites.
An Update
You may have noticed on Twitter, but in case you didn’t, I’ve decided to abandon the stroller site that I was going to launch as well as its parent company Upside Guides. Instead, I’ve rebranded and reformed into an umbrella company called Crisp Media, which will be the banner under which I run my online consulting practice as well as own various online properties that I’ll be launching over the next few years.
What I Can Offer
I’ve been trying to boil down for people what I do. It hasn’t been easy. One of my mentors said to me at my going away party, “The problem, Christine, is that what you do can’t easily be captured in a resume.” It’s true. The special talent that I have – and it’s one that I’ll be exploring on this blog more and more – is that I’m really good at launching web sites. In fact, I’m really good at conceiving what a web site should be – what the big idea is – as well as what it should do, how to get it done and how to maintain and monetize it afterwards. I can also do it really really inexpensively. And quickly.
Maybe you could call me some kind of Producer, but that would mean something different to people in the online industry.
I’m also really good at social media marketing. I’m an expert at Twitter and helping businesses build and maintain a credible and influential Twitter persona.
So my real goal with Crisp Media is to find businesses who need my services – who need me to help get them out of a jam because a previous consultant led them astray. Or who might need me to help them conceive of their entire online strategy.
Changes
You’ll be seeing this site evolve. You’ll still see the profiles that everyone seems to enjoy as well as the thoughtful guest posts from our talented contributors, but I think I need to take Go Go Mama Go to another level.
First off, you’ll be hearing a lot more from me. My voice is relatively absent and as my client list grows – many of whom will be mom entrepreneurs – I’ll be addressing topics that may be of interest to them.
I’m also going to go much deeper into web site development for new entrepreneurs – at least those will be my “expert” contributions. I was recently invited to speak at a few expert panels and so many people in the audience didn’t know the basics of the site. I’d like them to be able to get some tips to help them be successful in their online ventures.
I’m also going to be launching a few info products over the next few months. Again, it’s to help service entrepreneurs who don’t have the resources (i.e. money) to pay someone to come in and manage their web site or Twitter or whatever. Instead, I’m going to create a series of products that people can use to help guide them on their online journeys.
Anyway, in the next little while, I’ll fill you in on VancouverMom.ca, what it is, what it’s all about – and how I launched it in a day on an extremely limited budget (i.e. less than $300).

So excited for you! Can’t wait to see all the changes.
I think you’ve done a great job at explaining what you do. You’re right, though, coming up with the “title” or the “label” can be tricky… but I’m inspired by your ability to articulate your special talent. I think it’s interesting how our experiences evolve and finally it becomes apparent what we do really well. I’m on a similar journey and this post has motivated me to hone in my own special talents. I have this pattern where I find myself “all over the place.” I get excited by ideas and opportunities but many of them distract me from my true purpose. I wish you the best and look forward to more posts from you. A
