While Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and blogging are touted as free ways to promote your business, if you’re a busy entrepreneur you know that these social media initiatives can cost you time – and time is money!
While the stress of it all can overwhelming, I’d like to offer these tips to help ease the social media burden:
Pick and Choose: If you try to do it all, you may find that you’re not doing any one thing truly well. You may be spreading yourself too thin too fast. When it comes to social media, pick the one or two you think you can do the best.
Set Aside Time: If you’re trying to come up with blog posts 2-3 times a week, you may find that setting aside 2-3 times per week to write can be challenging. Set aside one hour per week to crank out the 2-3 blog posts and either cue them up to post or check and see if you can set them to automatically go out at designated dates and times.
Automate When Possible: There are a variety of tools that can help automate your social media processes. For example, if you use Twitter, check out tools like TweetLater, which follows any one who follows you back and allows you to cue up Tweets to go out whenever you want them to go out. Also, checkout Twollow.com, which helps you automatically identify people to follow by monitoring for keywords determined by you.
Buy Articles: Blogging is often the most time-consuming of all processes because it requires the constant development of content. You can buy content for a reasonable fee through a company called ConstantContent.com. Writers post articles and you can buy them to post on your blog – you can buy full rights to the articles or license the article. Either way, it gets you content without all the work and for a modest fee.
Get Help: Social media takes a lot of time and is not truly free. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with running your business and managing your social media, consider getting help. There are great writers who can help you develop content and constantly maintain your social media presence.
