So it happened today. I was officially let go from the place that I worked at for 2 years. A place that I loved to work at until about 3 months ago and where I met some wonderful people. I wrote a note to my staff a few months ago letting them know that we had a special and wonderful thing going on – that teams aren’t formed like that everyday. Sure, if you were to look at each person one by one you could find faults and areas to be desired. However, each of them wanted to be part of this special thing and contributed in their own way to make that team fabulous.
Never underestimate the power of a great team. They are rare and should not be taken for granted.
Anyway, I am see this as a sign. My company has offered me a pretty generous package and it will allow me some time to really focus on my business. Maybe someone is trying to tell me that this is really what I should be doing.
That said, I’m off to meet someone who is starting an interactive practice at a major Canadian consulting company. That opportunity, although I know nothing about it, looks very interested. I’m hoping that it will go well since someone I really respect called him a “genuinely nice guy” and the “classiest of classy”.
I’ll let you know how it goes.
