1. What or who inspired you to start your business?
I have traveled a lot both before and after becoming a mom. I took my firstborn across the ocean at 7 weeks old, and we have crossed the Pacific together 12 times since. People were always saying things like, “How do you do it?” or “I don’t know how you do it!”, “I could never do that!”, etc. etc.! So MomMostTraveled.com was created to show others that 1) it can be done! and 2) it isn’t as hard as you think!
2. What motivates you?
I get excited by little things like comments on my blog posts and new back links! Also when a company contacts me to do a review, I feel really motivated. I also feel satisfied knowing that I am my own boss. It is both a challenge and a motivator!
3. How do you balance being a mom and an entrepreneur?
I do the most work after the kids are in bed, and they have a very early bed time! (7:30!). My husband is really helpful and supportive too. There have been some weekends when he has taken the kids to do something fun like going to the water park or playground for hours so that I can have time to get things done.
4. What do you love most about what you do?
I get to do all of the things I love in one place: writing, photography, social networking, reviewing products, woohoo!
5. What single piece of advice would you give someone who is starting out?
I kept reminding myself that the time I spend investing in MomMostTraveled.com is of value even if I can’t really measure a dollar value for every thing I accomplish. I’m building into something and the progress makes me proud! Starting out I put in a lot of TIME and not a lot of money. I turned my time into something of value.
