(Wow! This is my 50th post!!! Unbelievable.)
I feel like there is a crazy change-shift happening in the universe. One of my friends is undergoing major life altering things – her elderly mom is very sick and has been bedridden for the past month, which coincidentally happened at the same time that she got promoted and needs to now grow into her new role. Another of my friends just announced that she got an apartment in downtown Toronto, is leaving her long-term boyfriend (whom she owns a house with) and has accepted a new role and quit her old job.
As for me, I can’t believe what the past four months have brought:
1. March – came back from vacationing in Mexico to a newly renovated kitchen (planned). Arrived back to work to a team and department that was literally freaking out.
2. April – boss let go. Entire department restructured. I’m given a new role. Also decide to start Upside Guides.
3. May – need to put a major project on hold. Have to let a few people go.
4. June – Let go at end of the month.
5. July – Family comes for an epic visit here in Toronto. And now…
My husband just accepted a job in Vancouver, which means that we are going to move. We have lived here in Toronto for the past 13 years. I feel like I grew up here.
It’s scary and amazing at the same time. But there are just too many reasons for us to not pursue this opportunity – especially since I don’t have a job, my business can transport anywhere and neither of my children are in school.
Funny how the universe works.

It seems like with everything changing so fast, you don’t even have time to think! You just have to take is at it comes but for most women, we like structure or at least some sense of security. I admire that you are being a supportive friend, wife, and I’m sure an amazing mother which is why I think you should give yourself some time to think about the good old care free days when the most stress thing in your life was picking a name for your baby! I hope everything goes well for your friend and yourself! You deserve a spa day!
I’m kinda very jealous: Vancouver is AWESOME and I would love to live there. That would be welcome news at my house! Good luck!
